4 September 2019
Welcome back everyone! It has been so lovely to see the children and hear about the things they have been doing during the holidays. They look so smart in their uniforms and all are growing up quickly! We welcome some new staff to Usworth Colliery: Miss Smith (Year 5), Miss Watson (Year 4) and Miss Held (Reception), who are working as Teaching Assistants. I am sure you will give them a warm welcome and I know they will be happy with us.
At the end of this week, we will be sad to say goodbye to Mrs Atchison, our Finance Officer, who has been with us a few years, and Mrs Dury who has been a teaching assistant across school for seven years, of late in the ASD Base. Both members of staff have new jobs outside of education and we wish them well for the future. This week, we have appointed Mrs Hickey to replace Mrs Dury as a teaching assistant in Year 3. She will start as soon as her employment checks are completed. Mrs Hickey comes with a number of years experience of teaching in schools in London and the north-east. Mrs Telford in the office will be stepping into Mrs Atchison’s role and we will be looking for her replacement in the next few weeks. I have added a list below of all staff, their responsibilities and where they are working.
As usual there are lots of new things happening this year and I look forward to sharing these with you in our Newsletters. I am always eager to hear your thoughts and ideas, so feel free to catch me or if you would prefer to make an appointment don’t hesitate to contact me. You can also contact me via the school email address or Mr Dickinson (our Family Liaison Officer) can be contacted via the School Office.
I am not always around to speak to parents and sometimes it may be more appropriate for class teachers or Mrs. Forster and Mrs. Walker (Senior Leadership Team) to deal with issues. If you do speak to another member of the team, I always know about it as we have an online logging system to which I get alerts and check the progress of actions. There is always at least one senior member of staff around the yard or the office area at the beginning and end of the day. Please make sure that you keep the office up to date with your new contact details, especially email addresses and mobile telephone numbers, as this is extremely important. We are looking forward to a great year!
