Working with Sunderland Culture (2025)
Sunderland Culture and Creative Sparks have been in school delivering an after-school club offering a huge range of creative activities. Lucy, who has run the club, brought many artists to school to work alongside our children and has sent this message to school.
We have enjoyed such a fantastic first year of Creative Sparks, and the children have been nothing short of brilliant. They really are an absolute pleasure to spend time with, and their behaviour and ability is commented on by all the visiting artists who have engaged with the children over the last few terms. They are a real credit to the school.
I think that as a group, the children have really shown commitment, dedication and a love of learning by attending frequently. Their skills and confidence have grown so much, and they have proved themselves to be creative, brave and full of imagination with every art form we have introduced them to!
In particular, I have been so impressed by the way the group works cohesively, helping each other with tasks, sharing resources, ideas and space. They are so kind to one another - without any prompting - and even though they span different classes and ages they have found ways to work happily together and, I hope, share a lovely bond.

Making our Stop Motion Animation
Our children have been working hard to produce stop motion animation as part of their Creative Sparks club.
Please enjoy!
Making Our Own Song
As part of the Creative Sparks club, children worked with Voices of Darlington to create their own song, working collaboratively to select style, genre and beat.
The result was “Feel the Spark”, please click on the tabs below:
Feel the Spark
Rainbow world, where the colors collide,
Beat boxing, feel the rhythm inside.
Birds in the sky, flying so free,
Just make me go mad, can’t you see?
I always think I’m losing my mind,
But when I see you, peace I find.
Oh, oh, oh, I love you, I love you,
In this crazy world, I know it’s true.
You must be mad not to love me,
But in this madness, I am free.
My love for this club is priceless,
God knows why, I’m feeling so alive.
Woah, woah, woah, woah,
I am blessed to be here, so blessed.
Fun, happy, lovely, heart full of pride,
Multi-colored love, it's where I reside.
Boom, bing, bing, bam, creativity’s flow,
Pouring rainbow joy, it’s all I know.
We can all be creative, exciting and bright,
Something to look forward to, day and night.
We all have friends, the bond never ends,
Creativity stands, where the joy never bends.
I love making pictures, slay the design,
Every Wednesday, you’re on my mind.
My brain’s all over you, dreamy and bright,
Cause in my heart, I’m holding art tight.
In my head, it’s clear to see,
Art is who I am, it sets me free.
Try new things, feel the spark,
Art is everywhere, leave your mark.
I can be myself, watch me fly,
In the world of art, we reach the sky.
Thank you to Sunderland Culture for making this possible.
